Hi, I have an 88 Indy trail fan (488 fuji) that is having some issues. I got it with a seized engine so I replaced it with another 488 fan. I got it all together and it fired right up but was smoking badly and wouldn’t rev up at all. I cleaned the carbs, changed fuel lines, fuel pump seems to be working strong. I decided to do a stator ohm test and it looks like the stator is shot. I have another stator from a Fuji 488 but it’s not exactly the same. The wiring harness plug is the same but the 3 prong one is different, the male and female are opposite. The stator I took out has 2 wires coming out whereas the new one has 3 wires. My question is can I use the 3 wire stator in place of the 2 wire stator or would I also need to change the CDI? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

It is important to understand how this is dependent. That is, you have 3 pins and 2 pins on the old one. What if there is grounding on the new one?
