I have a bent jackshaft in my 96 T-cat. I looked on the fisches and it listed a different part# for 00 and for 96 (I have an extra one from an 00). I ordered one form the dealer. When it came in, it looks exactly like the one from the 00? I measured it up (the old one is still in the machine) it looks like it is it? I guess maybee I should have checked on that extra one first, but either way, what is the difference? They look identical?

They may have changed the part number just because. More than likely Cat made a small revision to the shaft i.e material, Hardening process, thread depth etc. Even though the shaft looks the same it may be ever so slightely different.
All you need to concern yourself with would be overall length, the tapped end and the shaft diameter where the bearings will slide on to.
