i just got the sled it only has 6060 miles on it and was well maintained and looked after.
just wondering if people that have had one liked it and what was the most common problem with it.
We had a 90 440lc Pantera for the wife, was a good sled but lost a piston at 5200 miles when the ring retainer broke, a common problem at that mileage according to the dealer. The primary clutch also needed regular maintenace.
i would immediately pull the top end off and put new pistons and rings in it you can do the whole thing for about $100, this is a piston port engine, signs of weak compression show up quick especially at start up, if you have to keep feathering the choke to keep it running when its cold, takes more than 4 or 5 pulls to start it, etc. these engines are pretty bullet proof and will run good for a long time. but you should do pistons in the 440 fc about 6000 miles
