just got my sled back form the shop and the kill switch dose not shut her down i can pull the key and it turns off is there a way to fix the switch if not dose pulling the key heart the engine?

Pulling the key wont hurt anything. If the kill switch worked before going to the shop, maybe it just got disconnected. Try tracing the wires down the handle bars, see if you find any connectors unplugged.

My kill switch started acting up at the end of the season. If I push the switch nothing would happen but if I would hold the switch putting pressure on the switch, then it would work.
Thanks for reminding me that I need a switch, Totally forgot :D

Guys, you dont have to buy new switches. The contacts corrode over the summer. You can try spraying some WD-40 into the switch and rock the switch back and forth, and this will clean it and the switch will work. Ive never done the WD-40 trick before, but have read about several people doing this. What Ive done the past two preseasons is tear the switch apart. Youll have to remove the hand grip, unhook the throttle cable, undo the wire connectors, then there is a big screw on the under side of the switch, loosen it and the switch should slide of the bars. After you do this, take the switch apart to get to the contacts for the switch. BECAREFUL taring it apart, there is a SMALL spring in there, I lost mine last year and found a small one at the hardware store. I cleaned the contacts and put dielectric grease on it. I cant remember exactly how the switch came apart, but youll be able to figure it out. I am going to try WD-40 this year before I go tearing it all apart this year.

I'm just curious, what's the point of a kill switch? Isn't it supposed to be used only in emergencies? If I had a kill switch I think i'd still use the key. I dont have a kill switch so I dont have this problem. The hook-up and where the button goes is all there, I just dont have a button.

The REVs dont have keys per say. They have the tether. I use my kill switch for shutting it off all of the time so I dont have to worry about the tether. You have to have the tether on correctly or it will beep and get mad at you till you have it on correctly.

You need to tear the switch apart and clean it. Otherwise you are going to have the same problem next year. If you can get the switch off to change it out, you can clean the one you have. Your other option is to get the 440 style throttle block with its kill switch and swap over to that.

LOL :lmao: i heard about that game... now im really glad i dont have one LOL

I have a key and it comes out so thats what i use. Also have a tether, it works fine. Does anyone actually wear them when trail riding? Just wondering

I will take mine apart & clean it next week, then we will see how it works. :D My tether fell apart last year, man they are not cheap to replace :dazed:
