Hi dash, I know this is an old thread but the title caught my eye as I was looking for a solution to this exact problem. I don't know your situation but perhaps they are similar and I was wondering if you came across a solution.
Here's a little about my situation: 1981 Citation 3500 BUT the engine seems to have been replaced. The casting numbers would suggest a 1979 engine (Type: 277, Motor # 3230969) but I can't find a place to confirm this. The owner replaced the points with what the 1981 calls for. They however do not contact the cam on the flywheel. There is at least an 1/8" cap between the points and the flywheel cam. I am arriving at the conclusion that I need different points but not even the Ski-Doo dealers can help ID the engine.
Thanks for any insight!
