Polaris' Roseau Plant Withstands Flood
Facility and Inventory Intact
ROSEAU, Minn

Despite the worst flooding in the history of Roseau, Minn., the Polaris Industries Inc. production facility, the town's largest employer, has not suffered any significant damage or losses.

"Thanks to the tireless efforts of hundreds of Polaris employees and local volunteers, the Polaris facility and inventory are dry and intact," said Polaris president and chief executive officer Tom Tiller, who worked side-by-side with volunteers throughout Tuesday night sandbagging and pumping water away from the facility. "People have been absolutely incredible. Literally hundreds of folks came out to protect the company that provides their family income. Words can't describe how thankful we are to them for everything they have done and continue to do."

"Our biggest concern right now is helping our employees and the rest of the Roseau community. We're a family up here, so we'll do everything we can to help. As one of the oldest and largest employers in northwestern Minnesota, we hope state and federal aid will be made available as soon as possible to help the community begin rebuilding from this disaster."

The Roseau River is currently above flood stage and is expected to crest sometime today. Tiller said absent additional rainfall and flooding, the Roseau facility is expected to remain closed Wednesday and perhaps the next few days so that employees can focus on their homes, families and neighbors. The company's other production facilities have not been effected and are running at full speed. Tiller noted that, at this point in time, he does not expect the temporary Roseau plant shut down to significantly impact the company's second quarter or full year 2002 financial results.

Wow. That is pretty big news.  Imagine what the damage would have been if the company was flooded.  They might have been set back in delivary of there products.

Its a good thing the emploiers helped out and saved things.

There was 1/2 to 1 inch of water in facility, and they are not out of the woods yet, as the manmade dikes and mother nature can have an immediate impact yet. The workers are not gonna be working at full numbers for a while. As 1000 workers live in or near town and 95 % of them have a lot to do before working becomes their main priority.
