Why is it that all the performance companys say to get the cylinders re- coated after porting. Does the aluminum which gets ground off stick to the cylinders. If this is the case can they not just tape the cylinder on the inside and cut out the ports and then go at it which would prevent the aluminum from melting/sticking to the NIC. Or does the nic flake of around the ports after porting? Any ideas. ???

I think that question underscores the need for quality work by a very experienced engine builder/machinist. That's why the good ones charge more.

Porting exposes raw edges of the chrome that can lead to flaking of the chrome bore.
