Last spring, when all the hype on the RX-1 was hitting us, I heard a rumor that you can take the R-1 motorcycle head and bolt to the "de-tuned" RX-1 motor and instantly have a 210hp. motor! Thing is, now that the RX-1 has hit the trails I haven't heard another word about it. Anyone heard or know if this can/has been done? And if so, couldn't you just change the cam instead of the whole head?

Quick, copy this down, Machzzzz1 and I agree! The R-1 is putting out about 156 HP dog. Are you sure you're not confusing it with a Turbo or supercharging

You will not get 210hp with a R-1 head.

Most of the engine talk was about the YZR-M1 with 990cc.
10% lighter then the 750cc in the R-7 and in race spec cranks out 200hp @ 15,000rpm. It's not the R-1 engine but they say it has "striking similarities".

There are too many differences between the castings for this to be feasible. I have one on the bench the port angles are dramatically diff. As for the cams they are the same part#'s between both engines. But the carbs are bigger on the R1, 40mm vs37mm
