Out in the Big Horns this weekend and saw several natural slides from the last few days. There is a ice layer a few feet down so the danger is high and I'm sure it is all over like you said with snow setting up the last month and finally getting some new on top. Wear your beacons and know how to use them and learn how to read the snow. Even if you can't make it to a class there are lots of videos out there that will atleast give you some basics. The biggest thing IMO is don't let ego get the best of you. If it looks dangerous don't climb it. Being the one to make it to the top is not worth the chance of getting caught in a avalanche.
On another not one of the guys in our groups uncle was out here and had to spend the night on the mtn. Got stuck late in the day with his young son and then with the blowing wind and snow couldn't find his way out so they spent the night tell morning rather then try and find there way out in the dark. Always be prepared for the worst and if something happnes you'll have what you need.
