I picked up a 1972 Panther. The fuel in the the tank stinks and I can see its rusty inside. Anyone have a good method to clean the rust out of a steel gas tank?

I use a weak Muriatic acid and water mixture with a couple boxes of BB's and slosh it all around. The BB's work well with taking the rust off and then I wash it out a few times. There is also a lining compound that you can get but I haven't tried it yet. Have to do my 72 Cheetah 399 soon.

Good Luck

i have used a bottle of coke two handfuls of small cleaned rocks. strapped it to an elevated lawnmower or something that spins and run the lawnmower instead of shaking cuz you can get tired and the lawnmower can go much longer than you can.
