First off, you need to make sure the ball joint is clean and smooth and free of rust. Check your motor mounts for deflection and adjust your torque arrester. I find sealing the joint with the pipe spaced up a few degrees to let the sealant dry then clamp down the spring mounts will duplicate the operating range that the moveable parts of the exhast system sees and is less likely to break the sealant.
