I secure my boat to trailer with ratchet type devices. Is it necessary in the case of a sled? If so, what do you use and where is it secured to the rear of the trailer. My trailer is an open Karavan tilt for 2 sleds. Thanks for recommendations.
I have the same trailer and I put the retractable cleats on the trailer. Just put on you sleds and put the cleats directly below the rear bar and tie them down with a ratchet strap. Works slick. If you cant fasten the cleats to the frame make sure you use very large washers to prevent pull through.
Use the same ratchet straps to SECURE YOUR SLED's for safety.
Most trailers have loops at the back. Hook the straps from the rear bumper/handle to the trailer loops. Tighten until slightly compressing the sled suspension. When you get home, release the tension to save the sleds springs.
