Spring Riding

I've been out a few times over the last week, and conditions are "marginal" to say the least. The tough part is, every time I convince myself it's just not worth it anymore, I come up on a nice section of beautiful trail that last for a couple of kms. So...it the mud worth it? Maybe.

You just have to do it, if I could ride from my door I would be out there riding on the last speck of snow. You even managed to find some water which is every bit as good as snow :D
Actually, with conditions the way they are, water is better then snow. My sled has been running way hotter then normal the last few days because of the lack of lube, but a run or two across the water and it was right back to 110F.
Now, as the fuel mileage issues the Dragons are having have been attributed to cool running temps, maybe the dry conditions aren't such a bad thing, and my mileage over the last two rides has averaged out to about 12mpg (CAN), which is at least 2mpg above normal, so they are some pluses to spring riding for sure.
we got 10" of snow friday and saturday. went out yesterday evening. i was amazed on how much base had survived the temps and rain. there was some wash outs, but you could either go around or through them. got in close to 100 mi. way more than i expected. probably will be the last blast.
Yes I would without a doubt say you’re a diehard sleder ......what a great picture going across the open water.....

If I had rideable snow I'd be out there RIGHT NOW! Just brown
grass here! Could still do some mall docking on the large snow piles
left at the Mall a block away! :lmao: -Dave
Hate to sound like I'm bragging but one of the best things about up here in the Great White North is the fact that we can still sled and probably will for the next month or more. 3 of us were out yesterday with about waist deep snow and drove our sleds right up to the doorstep at the end of it all. We were in the mountains to start and ended up down in the trees. One of the sleds broke a steering linkage and we had to do some "bush repairs" but all made it home safe and played out. If I can figure out how to transfer pics (have to wait for the wife to get home) I will post a few.

my sled is summerized and I have almost 100 miles on the bike so far lol
:( I don't know if I should be happy, because I'm saving money, or sad, because we didn't get the snow in March like we used to. I remember on a post earlier this year I said "wait until March, that's when Newfoundland gets its winter". Well, here it is, March. This week, is when we usually get our snow storms. Notta one. Rain, and really warm. No snow to speak of. Still some people on the go though, but in my opinion sleds are too expensive to ride them in conditions they aren't supposed to be riding in. I don't always abide by this rule, lol, but I do have summertime sports and by saving money right now, I'll be able to enjoy them more once I crack those toys out :D

Man Jake I was thinking of calling you to see if it snowed but I really thought it was over.:-(

We got that same snow here, and we put on about 90 miles Saturday evening (night)....
There's still approx 6" to ride on here, so I am taking a day off from work to get in one more ride....I'll post a few pics afterwards....
i dont think i can bring myself to go mud bogging with my gsx, but i will definitely at least be crusing around my parents farmland this weekend on some of our older sleds

heck I even like to see pic`s of other people mudding on sleds .just not me lol M
It's all good to me except for the big "puddle" - I don't do puddles yet anymore!

Well....we (father and I) got in a final 49 mud free miles last evening, and as usual, I forgot something....the frickin' camera! :bash:

We had a good time, and the sleds will be summerized this weekend....they're predicting high temps around 60.... :(
still have at least 12 inches of ice on the lake in my area :D problem is riding down the road to get to it.
SOmebody actually drove a Chevy Avalanche out across Trout Lake on the weekend. Nuts. People drive on Nipissing all the time, but Trout Lake is DEEP, and narrow, nobody ever takes vehicles out on it. Maybe he knows something nobody else does.

Anyway, I'm going to trailer down to the lake from now on. We can still get around ok on sled, but the next warm day will be the end of it.
