Help Corey, I still can't chat using firefox. I downloaded the plugin once and restarted my computer after loading firefox instead of IE, and was able to get into chat once but now only get a message that "no suitable plugin could be found " . Any idea what is happening? I can access chat if I use IE????

It is the Sun Java VM causing the issue. Some users (including myself) have reported that uninstalling the Sun Java VM, then restarting their computer, then re-installing the Sun Java VM, then restarting their computer has solved the issue.

It is very important to make sure that you DO NOT have any other windows open when uninstalling or installing the SUN Java VM. Do NOT leave an open browser window active. Disable any active Virus scanners and make sure to install the Sun Java VM from a download off their site instead of allowing the browser to choose the pluggin.

Also:

1. Visit http://java.com/en/download/help/testvm.jsp to test your install.

2. Make sure that Java is enabled in your browser now that it is installed:
1. Start Mozilla Firefox browser or restart it if it is already running.
2. Select Tools > Options.
3. Dialog box: Options
4. Click Web Features > Select Enable Java

3. If you are not sure what version to get, TRY the automated install at http://java.com/en/download/windows_automatic.jsp . Let it try to choose the correct copy you need once your old one is removed.

4. Try the Chat troubleshooter here: http://www.parachat.com/faq/java/step1.html

Alot of people were getting booted from chat last night. It was acting weird I had to download a couple of programs to get my Mozilla working in chat.
Dwhee here is another option that you can doo. I did this until my MOzilla was fixed. I simply made my IE browser home page into my SW chat button. One click and I was in chat. I reserved IE just for that, and use Mozilla to surf.

Later Jeff

The chat applet was/is/has been updated recently (it should look a little different now to you). Proper install of the Sun Java VM should get rid of all your issues.

My Firefox (1.0PR) works fine with the chat, but I did have problems at first. Following the steps outlined above fixed my issues.
