I would spray the clips with WD-40 and store it in a cool, dry location away from sunlight. For the engine, if it runs, fog it with fogging oil before removal, then cap both intake and exhaust to keep out the moisture. If it's not running, it may be difficult to coat the bearings with oil to prevent rust. Dry storage is the key, and coating metal parts with something to prevent rust.
