Trying to find a U.P. trail map. Planning a trip for Jan 30-Feb 3. Never been there. Any suggestions from those that have? Thanks, Joe

In addition to the DNR site, try the www.fishweb.com, and michigansnowmobiling.com sites. The DNR will send you a map but it's out of date and only good for trip planning to give you a general idea of where the trails are. The best thing to use when planning a trip is a copy of the magazine "Michigan Snowmobiler". He groups his ads by city, the motels that you find in there cater to and understand the needs of snowmobilers.

Tattoo 3235, the UP is a great place to ride you won't be sorry you made the trip..... The fishweb site that Oatie mentioned will give you the basic trails, but you'll need to pick up a more detailed one at say the novi show, or from the locals when you get there....
Some thoughts on the UP....
You should visit the newberry area (cause you haven't been there yet) otherwise its way to crowded. the trails can't take all the traffic, motels and gas are high (because they can get it) Go farther west to munising or sceney, (another hour and a half each way but well worth it)...... If you want to go the whole nine yards then go to the western UP to the Porkupine (sp.) mountains or up the keewenaw that's as good as it gets! the huron mountains out of Big Bay north of Marquette is another favorite spot with our group.
You really can't go wrong in the UP good riding in most places. Safety is a key factor up there, a lot of wilderness,............... good running sleds, warm clothes, a compass, (GPS if you have one)..are very important....DooZ :(
