I had to go with the doo!  they are quick!  my buddy uses his 98' mxz 500 for radar runs.  He has is jetted, geared and clutched.  It will do 99 in 1000' feet!

I'm going to go with the Doo, too.  I had a '98 MXZ 583 that would run like ####.  No studs and completly stock.  I beat an XC 600, and 700.  Yes, 700.  I think it was just luck.

Why don't anye think the GT 600 will be fastest.  It is close to a mxz600.  I myself with my 99 mxz6 am faster than my buds 00 sx600r.  Both stock with same # of studs.  A old rotary valve mxz 500 will not beat a series 3 ROTAX 600 twin!  Did you guys forget about the GT 600

in the short drag a g.t. 600 will not out run a good rotary valve 500 I have had both. the 500 will win the short runs if dialed in good that I know.I am going to add the fact that the 600 will be right with it but just a lil' behind but at 85 mph the g.t. will start to pull away.

my vote would probably go for the gt 600 also

if i remember right i think the rotary valver 500's only had about 90 horse i have spent some time on a mxz 500 and was not all that impressed by the power it seems to be good off the line but just didn't have the midrange-topend power

zr580's rule you are right my 500 had 93 hp ,here's the thing ,I can get the guy that had it to prove this, but the 500 would and did many times stock for stock outrun a 97 zr 580 he never got by me,and a 97 sx 700 to 80 mph.when I was done tuning the 500 the 700 yammy couldn't catch me till 85 mph.now dont start bashing me saying there is no way possible, there is a way ,remember the spinning problems those 700's had when they were new.as for the cat I dont know only but to say I did beat him every time we raced and he will tell you that.as for the g.t. it will hook up good with the long track but it does require more hp to get it going and keep it going.
