I have a 98 MXZ 500 and would like the vents to be red. Instead of buying new ones can i just get a can of spraypaint and spraypaint them? Has anyone done this before?

yes just be sure to remove any loose paint which may be on them now
then prime them
then add several thin coats of your new colour
i did mine and they last about 3 years before needing a touch-up
hope this helps.

Spray paint will work fine, just doing it in a couple different layers. Then I would suggest doing it inside. Its in the low 20's where I am, and paint just doesn't seem to cure right if its that cold out.

Just my opinion

Ya just like jbird said, I would suggest putting it in a warmer place and using spray paint. It goes on alot smoother and looks more factory.

Just make sure if you spray paint that you dont spray too close to the vents or it will drip and it looks terrible!
