Well finally we had good snow.  I went out riding and everyone and there brother was out.  Finally at the end of the run came to an abandon road no one was on it.  Friend on a mxz 800 wanted to race and so did a buddy of his with a 670 and riding with us was my friend with the SRX that talks so much crap about my sled.  So we lined up.  We all hit the gas at the same time.  The MXZ 800 took all of us for about 12 feet when the srx caught him.  The 670 was out of the picture but for the most part it fought pretty hard.  Then the Mach started to get into its element and started to pull hard.  at about 120 feet i smoked buy the 800 mxz and was right beside the srx which slowly pailed over.  So now I was infront traction wasnt a problem anymore so I just put it to the bar and held on.  I was at 180 km and i just said what the hell lets see what it will do.  So I held it to the bar and the needle hit 200km  i was still holding it and it made it to 215km or 130mph.  I didnt think it would go this fast but the condidtions were perfect and no wind.  So I ran out of road so I couldnt hold it any longer but i think it was tapped out.

The srx and mxz were long gone.  The mxz guy said he saw 180 and the srx honestly told me he got 185.  They both couldnt belive how i just pulled on them.  THey were saying im not stock and honestly i havent done anything to it yet.  I always wait for the engine to break somthing so i have a reason to go in there.

So the next day i went driving with a mxz 500 and we did a 100km trip.  I only used 3L more then him.

The triple engine is just great what a monster.

Only thing i wish bombardier had did was put taller shocks on the front and a stronger brake system with drilled rotars.  200km the brakes are gutless and the moment i applied them i smelled the brakes burning so i just let it cost down to a slower speed then applied the brakes.

Its unbelivable how stable this thing was at those speeds.

As far as i know a polaris XCR wont do 130 and neither will a T-cat so im going to say that the Mach is still the most damaging stock sled.  Unless this new yamaha can top that.

Machzzzz1, what is the speedometer on your sled registered for?
I know you have a 2001 Mach Z, Mine is a 2000.
My speedometer tops at a 200km/h what does yours top out at?

machzzz1 - I radared my T-Cat at 132 mph yesterday on a river.

RADAR.  Not Speedo.  My speedo only goes to 100, if you can believe it.

At the higher speeds, I have found that speedos are usually off by 5 - 10 mph.  Too high.

and you are correct - oh, what a feeling!  The Hammer of the Gods, right there under your thumb.

Fortunately, I didn't need to bother with brakes - I had miles of slowdown room......

My speedo goes to 200km.  And i am aware of the inacuraccy but skidoos speedo is only out by 3 to 5 mph.  The needle went past 200 and was about where 215 should have been.  I might have been able to stretch it out a bit more but like i said i didnt have to room.  At 200+km you run out of road real quick.

If we ever get the lakes frozen i will get it radar or GPS.

It feels more like the hammer of god is above you waiting to come down and crush you.  When i went back to 100km it was like standing still.

it is an awesome feeling!

i would love to put the two side by side in ideal conditions, (i.e. unlimited slowdown area)

I'll bet they would run dead even, or very close to it.

top-notch machines, the two of them.

You bet.

They better be top notch machines for the money we paid for them.

I saw about 2 thunder cats last weekend and its also a kick ### sled.  It sound a little diffrent.  It got that japanize smoothness to it.  But when it comes alive its deadly.

Its to bad that they both wont exist in a few years.

There is not a chance that a stock Mach Z will go 130mph. I have a least 10 buddy's that ride them, They radar between a sick 115 to 119-120mph.  Z's piped and ported 188hp,  best top speed 128mph.

I agree with mr670. I had a '97 that went 118 on radar with 192 studs. Alright, so with no studs on hard pack you might be able to squeeze one or two MPH over 120, but that's about it. Without studs, my speedo once showed between 125 and 130, but on that radar run of 118, I was showing a solid 125 on the speedo. The fastest stock sled I've ever seen on radar was my buddy's 2000 TCat and that did 120 on the gun with studs. I'm not looking to flame anybody here, but 130 MPH stock sleds just plain don't exist. As a side note on speedo accuracy, at 110 MPH on radar, my MXZ 800 shows about 116 on the speedo.

By the way, nice "kill" on the SRX, however.

800 triples on asphalt in 1/4 mile, world record is 122.4 Zrt.winter produces a few more ponies for top end runs. Your sled needs great clutching, and chassis alignment, a light rider doesn't hurt. The Mach z is geared for 137 to 139mph. theoretically, so I believe it could come within 5% or 130 in near perfect conditions. I believe a Tcat with a short lug track can hit 132, I just wonder in what distance? Oh and the Srx's that have beat 800's (set up by Pat Hauck) I know a guy who paid him $1000.00 a week to dial
in his sled. This was one that Yamaha won Isr world Series with. It was so tweaked out the next summer it blew on the starting line at Haydays. Do you really think that was stock?

A $1000 a week just to tweak an engine?
I'm in the wrong business, I also ran the mill pond we have here and the conditions where excellent.
-3, about an inch of hard pack on the water and absolutuly no wind. about 2500' in length.
the best i got out of about 1700' -1800' was about 115 mph on a 2000 Mach z totally stock.
had the carbs cleaned, primary and secondary clutch cleaned and engine aligned, before run.

Glare ice
?? why, i have 144 trail studs and on glare ice the only thing it is good for is spinning. Ive been on bare ice so hard the studs didn't even leave a mark on the ice i peeled out on. as hard as i could crack the throttle and nothing, not even a scratch in the ice.
the packed snow for me is best.

The radar runs around here are all done on a plowed strip on the lake 18000 to 2000 + ft long, no snow bare ice, I just go easy off the line, I have 144 60deg woody's they hook ok,  but not like a steel pick will, they are the best

I have also heard that the z was the fastest.  But I also know that the conditions at most races arent the fastest.  I have seen my fastest speeds come from hard pack on roads.

I have gotten a 600 touring to go 170 in the right conditions.  Normally it only does 150 and feels like it wont go any faster

If my 2000 MachZ with a 136" x 1 1/2 paddle track and mechanical reverse can do 115 on the speedo, I believe a normal Z could hit close to 130! Rock on triples!

1.5 inch of granular snow on a railroad

My sled is a 98 Mach Z with V-Force and 1.25 track , jetting is 300/310/300. Tra set to 4. clutching is stock.

speedo was showing about 110 mph at 8700-8800 rpm ??

When i just hit the trottle for a couple of sec at low speed rpm is at 8200-8400. If im at WOT for like 30 sec, 8800 RPM !

Any idea ? why im over reving ??
