Deflection should be between 0.1 and 0.25" with a 2 lb force applied to the belt midway between the pulleys. If out of spec you have to replace the belt as there is no adjustment. Even then you may have to try a few new belts until you get one that gives the proper spec. Very poor design. There is no spec for the distance from the block as there is no adjustment. I think as long as the pulleys align so the belt is straight that is all that matters. Check out the Polaris parts manual at this website. This is for a 2000 model but you should be the same.
