On the trip, ScottMc, Renegademike and I
Well after buying our Ontario passes back in November we didn't think they would get used this season due to the lack of snow but sure enough last weekends conditions looked as good at they would get. We packed our bags and head to Wawa for 3 days of riding, Thurs-Sun., and just like everyone always says the trails were flawless. We were the only people staying at our motel and each day we only passed one or two sleds on the trails.
We did manage to do some extreme boondocking our first time in a foreign country as well. Ernie at Ernies resturant in Missanabie gave us the hot tip on how to get from his place back to Wawa using the lakes and two tracks. He did of corse say that we shouldn't attempt this at night and to proceed with caution during the daylight hours due to it being our first time in the area. Feeling venturous and armed with our gps's we made our way back to Wawa in the dark crossing 30 miles of a lake we new nothing about. We did hit a few wet patches
hmy: and managed to find the land crossing but as you can see I'm typing this so we made it
Other boondocking included climbing some of the tallest hills I've ever seen. We had approx 2.5 feet in the woods so it was plenty deep but we could have used a bit more as the rocks are brutal when trying to climb these monsters.
We also met some of the nicest people on this ride. Everywhere we went the people were out of their way friendly, even the motel owners took pictures of us at their motel and sent them to me along with a note wishing us a safe return home
They even gave ScottMc some souvenier coins for his kids without even thinking about charging for them, we will definitly be staying at their place again.
