i have a 1996 zrt 600 that will not shut off with the kill switch, key,or tether. the only way to get it to shut off is by choking it out .the motor was just freshened up pistons, rings seal, stator, etc.it had this problem before the teardown also.any ideas would be appreciated thanks

youve got an electical problem,,, bet you already knew that. I am not sure if your system is normally an open or closed system,,, but I would start looking around your ground from your stator and your 4 prong connector that is located close to your recoil,,,, see if you have something unhooked,,,

When putting all your connections back together, use lots of dialectic grease.
My 97ZRT600 initially wouldn't shut off after powder riding, after the grease no more problem.

Make sure all your grounds to the motor have a good connection...
