I love mine. They run well, get good gas mileage, and are very reliable. If you go to dootalk.com there is alot more information on this sled. It is much faster than an f-5 and I have also beaten an 500xc and a 600xc. And ran very close to a 600 ho.

 

I bought one for the wife and one for myself and both have ran very well. Wanted a lighter sled that's good in the air and on the trails and it's perfect. Was riding a 700 triple last year and am impressed w/ the hole shot on the 500ss. Made a riser bar, beefed up the shocks, and I was more comfortable on the jumps after 2hrs of riding than I ever was w/ the 700.(Had it for 3 yrs) The rev is easy on the back but your shoulders will need to get used to it. That's the only thing that gets sore for me. I beat up on my neighbors 500's and have got aound a 03 600ho....not sure if he was giving it everything...I'm pretty crazy on the moguls/jumps.

 

The 500ss is a nice sled ( the same motor as in the 99 mxz 600) its a 600.
difference is bigger carbs and bigger exhaust.

the 500ss is a nice sled and I have heard great things about it. my buddy who left for irag bought one this past fall.

i bought an 04 rev 600ho couple days later. he had 96 stud up the middle.

we went to the local grass drags where i raced my 99 mxz 600.

both sleds had 0 miles on them. :inlove:
we line up ( 500foot strip) he got me out of the hole and had me to about 100 feet if that. I realed him in very quickly and went by him half way down the track.

there is NO COMPARISON to the 600 and the 600HO. the HO is a power plant. I have onwed both. I tweaked my 99 ( head work, clutching,reeds,y pipe work, bored, port match cylinders to the exhaust.

 

I love my ss trail , just got done putting in heavier springs for the 1+1 seat but love the sled

i agree i think theres no difference between a 600ho and a 600. Everybody talks how the 500ss wont be able to run with the 600s. Well as far as i can see with mine im walkin away from the 600 class and some 700s. as far as the H.O. Its a good race but most likely if there not stock im able to outrun most of em. Its a quick sled ive had it up to 103 on my road with a couple inches of powder.the 04 sleds are quicker because of the REV X tunnel design and longer chain case. But i have no problems with 600s. I dont know if its the way i set it up for racin or if theres somethin different about my sled when i bought it. But size for size i still havent ridden a sled with more get up and go and throttle response for its size.

 

Buy one. None of the ring problems of the 600ho, and on the trail, they kick the tail of the 600ho too!
