Bearcat:

I bought a Frontier this winter and I must say that I am very happy with it. It is not a powerhouse by any means but it has great low end, a great ride and handling, and excellent gas milage. If you are into putting on alot of troublefree miles, this is a great sled. Let me know if you want any specifics.

Look at the cat instead. better suspension and more HP. Always gets better reviews than the polaris. and I'm a polaris owner. Doo has that killer v twin ledgend 4 stroke also. And the cat and Doo look alot better than the polaris unfourtunatly. They have all been selling cheap at the sled auction.,

These are my comments from a few days ago........

My friend just bought the new Frontier Touring four-stroke, and we spent last weekend "burning gas" in central Newfoundland.

The machine has great handling, suspension and low-end torque. With a passenger, it cruises nicely at 40-45 MPH and has a top speed of about 55-60 MPH. We were especially surprised with its abilities in deep snow and how well it can pull a load. For low speed woods trails it is superior to the two stroke big-bore machines due to its low RPM clutch engagement. Gas mileage was about 20 MPG.

But SnowSports magazine has a completely different view and has extreme difficulty in recognizing anything positive about the machine. The February 2003 issue states “its painfully obvious that this machine was not built for snowmobilers”, and “we’ll trade it for a real machine as soon as we exit the gates” (of the park). They weren’t any kinder in their assessment of Artic Cat’s four-stroke, although statements concerning the Ski-Doo four-stroke were more positive.

SnowSports seems to think that all snowmobilers revel in experiencing severe facial distortions when the throttle is “barred” at 50 MPH. And although this may be a large customer segment, they obviously failed to recognize the group of snowmobiliers who enjoy a more sedate pace. And what about the inherent advantages of a four-strike – like increased efficiency, longer engine life, less maintenance, quieter operation?

From my viewpoint the Frontier is a great machine, despite its inability to hit 100MPH!

Was reading in Popular Science that the new Yamaha 4 stroke will do more than 130 mph...kind of makes you wonder when Polaris and friends are gonna catch up...

Thanks for your comments, guys! I think I may go for the AC 4-Stroke Touring.I've got the Bearcat and can't be more pleased with it!I was at the dealer the other day and we started up a Frontier. It idled very rough in my opinion.I think the dealer put some weatherstripping in the hood channel to keep it from vibrating.I guess that's expected for the 2-cylinder as opposed to the 3-cylinder in the Cat.

Hard to believe Polaris would make a machine that would only do 60mph tops! I'm not an all out speed junkie, but it's nice to open it up ocasionally!

Guys. Look at the Doo SDI 2 stroke Legend.

It offers better fuel range, Smooth idle, Cleaner emmitions then 4 strokes and offers Turn key operiation that is identacal to your car. Just turn the key and go.

Plus the power of a 2 stroke is there. Even though you dont have to use it.

THis is the future of sled engines. All the Magazines are giving it excellent reviews and are calling it the most importent sled of 2003.

Ive not seen one myself, But from what my dealer said. Is that you think its a 4 stroke by the way it runs, and idles. It doesnt smoke or smell like a 2 stroke, and It makes good power.

One other thing is that it has a Detonation sensor, so melt downs wont happen, Electronic RAVE valves for a better control of the exhaust timing.

Not to mention that this sled has RER which give you reverse with out the weight and complexity of a transmission. And only a 2 stroke can have that kind of reverse.

That is a winning combo for me.

Hey Machzzzz1, tell me more about this SDI Legend. I've been hearing lots of hype about all the 4-strokes esp. the RX-1 but this Doo sounds really cool and I haven't really heard much about it. I've only heard the name a couple of times!
